Below you find a list of ideas. Feel free to pick one and expand it or write down the answer the NPC should give. Of course new ideas are always welcome, too.
If you want to learn more about the different steps and the required skills for creating new quests, please have a look at Stendhal Quest Contribution. Don't be scared, you don't need to know how to write computer programs in order to contribute.
Modified sheep quest
Summary: Nishiya gives you a sheep (weight 0) to grow.
Reward: The first full grown sheep gives you the exp. for level 2
Difficulty: very easy, you don't even have to meet an enemies
Note: You can do the quest as often as you like, but you'll get the xp only once
Grab some rare herbs from the plains
Summary: Carmen asks you to grab her some herbs from the plains
Reward: Some coins, some xp, maybe a necklace that heals you a hp each second

The Pied Piper
yoriy is working on it (after a german tale: read this first (click). It is translated in some european languages)
- Part 1
Summary: The city has a rat problem. You can enter each house and kill some rats. The major tells you they are waiting for a rat catcher (and he tells the exact time)
Reward: none
Difficulty: none
Note: This is just to introduce the problem. Make sure the rats are very easy (atk=def=1) and give nearly no xp,atk_xp,def_xp
- Part 1b
Summary: The pied piper arrives. You can see how he dances and all the rats leaves the houses and gather around him. He leads them in some dungeon (it is complicated, but it would look cool).
Note: Make sure the players cannot block the path to the dungeon.
- Part 1c
Summary: The pied piper returns to get his reward. The city refuses to pay and so he dances again to get all the children. They go down the same dungeon.
Note: Make sure the players cannot block the path to the dungeon.
- Part 2
Summary: Get the children back.
Reward: don't know. something cool
Difficulty: normal
Note: This is a quest for several players, so the enemies shouldn't be too easy. The kids are in some kind of underground town. The pied piper is gone.
This quest can be restarted each 2 days or so. Block the dungeon entrance some hours before the quest restarts.
If some people don't like the idea of 'stolen' kids (it's a tale after all), the rat catcher gets sheeps in his 2nd run.
Help Jynath find some rare herbs
Participants:
- Jynath, the witch that lives near the imperial path near Or'ril castle
Steps:
- Talk with Jynath about the herbs
- Go to Or'ril north plains
- Grab some herbs of the type Jynath said
- Take them to her.

Dungeon portal runes
Story:
Ceril has the mission to watch the runes if ever they would become odd. He asks you to go down in the dungeon lvl -2 to check the portal runes, cause they like to change all the time.
Participants:
- Ceryl, the most famous librarian at Semos
Steps:
- Talk with Ceryl about the quest, and get a piece of paper from him to draw on
- Go down to semos dungeon lvl -2 and make sure you see all runes
- Draw the runes on the piece of paper (Use: Piece of paper near runes)
- Go back to ceryl and give him your drawing of the runes
Reward:
- XP
- Gold
Note: You can do this quest again, but there is a delay before he gives you the quest again... maybe 10 minutes or so.
Ieo has lost his magical recipes tome
Participants:
- Ieo, a confused sorcerer that is actually investigating at Semos Library
- Wilros, an ancient that does nothing but give walks around Semos. He lives at Semos village.
Steps:
- Talk with Ieo about the Tome
- Go to Semos village and talk with Wilros
- Wilros will ask for a magical potion and some money
- Go to Herbolary and buy the potion
- Give Wilros the potion and the money
- Take tome to Ieo

Get corpses to Petety
Petety is the tanner that works in Semos city

- We can't equip corpses any more (since a long time ago - because they could make infinite stack of containers then!) so this quest idea is obsolete imho Kymara
Find herbs for Lilih
Lilih is the druid that run the herbolary at Semos
Give some items to Xoderos, the blacksmith
Xoderos is the blacksmith that works in semos, and he needs tools and resources to create new weapons and armors.
- Give some tools to Xoderos
- Xodero is expecting a forge and a hammer
- Xoderos actually sells hammers so I don't think this makes sense. Maybe he could ask for a bigger hammer like the war hammer?
Diogenes may sell key for a dungeon for a good amount of money

Give Carmen some healing herbs

Carmen is in Semos, new players will see her first if they walk into the city from the village where they start.
Carmen: Hey you! Yes, you! Do you know me?
No: I am Carmen. I can heal you for free, until your powers become too strong. Many warriors ask for my help. Now my #ingredients are running out and I need to fill up my supplies.
Yes: Great, so you know my job. My supply of healing #ingredients is running low.
-#ingredients: So many people are asking me to heal them. That uses many ingredients and now my inventories are near empty. Can you help me to fill them up?
Yes: Oh how nice. Please bring me those ingredients:
- 5 #arandula (is there already and text?)
- 1 #porcini ( ...?)
- 3 #apple (apples have many vitamins, I saw some apple trees on the east of semos)
- 1 #pieces of wood, so that I can use the bark from it (wood is great item with much different purposes.Of course you can find pieces in a forest)
- 1 #button mushroom (someone told me there are many different mushrooms in the semos forest)
No: hargh, thats not good! But ok, its your choice. But remember, I will tell the others that I can't heal them much longer, because YOU didn't want to help me.
If the player brings the ingredients:

Carmen: Hi again (playername). Do you have the ingredients?
No: Oh please go and collect them. Come back if you have them all.
Yes: Great! Now I can heal many people for free. Thanks a lot. Take this for your work.

Proposed Quests For North Semos
Here are some proposed quests for the map north of Semos (0_semos_plains_n). The map has a number of features added to support quests. I imagine most of them to be simple for newbies who arrive in Semos and need some easy XP.
Stolen Vegetables
some gnomes north of the fields keep stealing a farmers veg, go kill them and gain some food and XP done, kymara
Stables
Stables master is looking to start up his business again to gain enough rep to make the lady in the farm to the west interested in him. all his horses were bought out by the army at the start of hostilities. He needs you to fetch some food, talk to banker about a loan get him a hammer for his anvil. Then organise a meeting between him and the lady. then get a ring from town made by the balcksmith from an item he gives you. Then return for XP, and an item.
Vampire Sword Quest
To Do (very desirable):
- Enable buttons to turn off damaging spike effect
- Ice Slipping (timothyb89)
To Do: (desirable):
- create AI for Vampire Lord
- he starts as normal creature. ideally when his health is low, this behaviour starts:
- enters one 'door' in south of catacombs and teleports to a 'random' or seemingly random one and comes out
- when VL goes to plan 'b' before he 'enters' on a 'door' he sets a timebomb. So when players see him enter they must immediately get back in a safe distance from the explosion
- Enable transition from Good Vampire to Evil Vampire for the three main types of vampire.
- Animate the vampiress transformation using data/sprites/monsters/vampire/vampirette_transformation.png
- Animate the other transformations with a smokey grey cloud

Wanderer
A wanderer that travels the world (cross map pages) and gives out random facts about the world for a small fee. He will only give out one fact per 24hrs but these could include:
>The location of a cherub >The rumour of the location of a dragon >A random item >etc
Wizard
Wizard hangs around kobold cave entrance (or inside farm house). Talking to him tells how he was thrown out of his castle when he miscast a spell and summoned a Stone Golum. On payment of a small fee (10gold?) he will transport you to Town Hall in semos. He can also sell (1000gold??) a one time use transporter (of which you can only have one) which when used will also transport you from anywhere to the Town hall. Maybe this One Time Use Transporter could only be used on a rune? and transports to another rune selected by picking a distinctive rune on a pop up page?(made be only allow to select runes that you have activated by walking over)?
Lucky Four Leaf Clover
Collect the lucky 4 leaf clover and take it to Ilisa in the temple. The 4 leaf clover will spawn at any random location in the world, once it is picked by a player, a new one spawns somewhere else (random). If you find it and take it to Ilisa she will reward you with 10 potion. note: a graphic is drawn for the clover already.
Manhunt
It is a quest/game. There needs to be atleast 6-10 players to make it fun.
The fugitive dress with a prisoner clothes and it is given XX seconds to run away from the start spot, after the time expires the pursuers go after him. For each second he is not found he earn XP.
If he is found *and* arrested ( dunno what to do here... ) the the pursuers earn an amount of XP and the fugitive lost a bit of XP.
If after a time ( say 2500 XP ) it is not found, he win and each pursuers lost a bit of XP.
To do this we need:
- Disable where command
- Enable minimap to draw players ( done )

Was unclear if the fugitive was a player or npc.
If a player, then a simpler alternative (from a pursue point of view) may be to have an npc (or many) roaming around the game (that can cross zones), and players would visit the post office and read the "wanted posters". Each poster would list a certain fugitive, with a fixed reward (money/XP/etc), and risk level [some are stonger than others].
A player captures an npc by attacking them and dropping their HP below a certain level (trying not to be killed themself). Once this point is reached, the npc would yell out that they give up! (and can stop being attacked). If multiple players go after the same fugitive, then try to payout the reward proportionally (but only reward those that were near/envolved when captured). Also, if the fugitive is killed before taking into custody, then any non-XP reward (like money) is given only if the poster said "dead or alive" (some/all XP is always given).
When one is captured, after some random time, another fugitive with some random profile is created (with an appropriete reward) and posted on the wanted posters.
This also allows there to be a mix of safe and very dangerous fugitives out there. Unlike creatures, their default reaction (unless prevoked) would be to avoid players. So a low level player could be semi-close (but not too close to trigger prevoking) to a dangerous fugitive and not be attacked. The dangerous ones would have very high rewards for high level players, but unlike respawned creatures, these have no predictible time/location.
Fugitive Profile:
- ATK/DEF/Weapons
- Agitation Level (how easily npc is prevoked by close proximity/large groups)
- Viciousness (once prevoked, how much to fight before reverting to flight response)
- Flee Probibility (whether to run away at first sight of a player vs. act casual)

Second Sight
This quest is to give a player the ability to see more in their minimap. The code already exists in the client (minus server activation check). Use -Dstendhal.superman=on on your command line to preview the feature if you are admin.
Scenerio:
Zynn Iwuhos is attempting to complete a potion to give him extended sight about the world to aid in his studies. He only requires two more items, the eye of a young beholder, and dragon oil. As a reward for helping to find these items, the player will be given some extended sight.
Obtaining Dragon Oil:
The dragon oil is available from Haizen:
Player> dragon_oil
Haizen> Yes, I have dragon oil, but it's very difficult to extract. However, I am in need of supplies, such as #carrot_pie.
Player> carrot_pie
Haizen> I love carrot pies. My mother would make the most delicious ones when I was a young apprentence. There is a bakery near by that makes tastely pies. If you would do my a favor and bring me 5 carrot pies from there, I will give you a bottle of dragon's oil. Just mention that you want carrot pie to the baker.
Obtaining Carrot Pies:
At the bakery, no carrot pie is listed for sale, but can be asked about:
Player> carrot_pie
Arlindo> Ah! You have heard of our carrot pies, from Haizen I bet. They are a magician's favorite because of their magic restoration properties. Because not many people buy them we don't list them for sale.
Player> make 5 carrot_pie
Arlindo> To make 5 carrot pies you will need 40 carrots and 10 flour.
Summary:
Kill a young beholder and take the eye, obtain the dragon oil. Bring the eye and oil back to Zynn Iwuhos and he mixes the potion and pours some drops into the player's eyes.
Now in the player's minimap, they can see NPC's and creatures.
Carrot Pie Attributes:
- 40 HP (low HP compared to most foods)
- 160 MP (for future player use)
Items needed:
- Image of carrot_pie. [chadf]
- Image of beholder eye (if corpse can't be taken).
- Image of dragon_oil in glass container (yellow/green color?)
--MiguelAngelBlanchLardin 01:26, 21 February 2007 (PST) I love the idea, but as you point it is only a client side thing. Any clever guy will mod client to get the advantage. But real good idea.
This is why I'd like to keep the quest relatively simple/easy, so doing the quest is easier than moding their client (and keeping it mod'ed when offcial changes are made). My only real concern is how high a player needs to be to take on a beholder.. maybe an infant beholder, if others can't be killed easily by around level 10.
Money Rain
(incomplete details)
Scenario:
Go to a certain spot (in the center of an area indicated by the map decor), and say a magic spell [phrase]. Then many small items of money (totaling 100) randomly fall around you (in a radius of 10). Player can repeat every couple days.
Obtaining the secret phrase:
Find 3 npc's. Each knows a piece of the phrase. Nomyr Ahba mentions the rumor of this place and how to find these npc's (in general). He also mentions that one day he will seek this quest himself.
Details:
To make this quest more directed toward low level players, the set quantity should be low. So the effort of picking up many coins is worth it to newbies when they need a kick start, but not higher level players. Could do random sets between 1 and 5, until the 100 (or so) are dropped.
Karma affect: +/-20 money.
The trigger phrase is: <ask-chadf>
Side option:
If the user says it "almost right", but not completly, several creatures appear instead.
Mrs. Yeti needs help
kymara has implemented it Mrs. Yeti lifes in a cave somewhere in semos mountain. She is mournful, because Mr. Yeti turn away from her. Thats why she ask the player for help. She like to have a special potion and some other stuff as a present for her husband.
There is only one witch, who can make the special potion. Mrs. Yeti tell the player where she lives. The player go for the witch. Once he found her, she tell the player, that she will help, but need some ingriedents.
When the player is bringing in the collected stuff, she has to tell him, that her magic knife is damaged and she need a new one and send the player to a blacksmith. He has to craft a new magic knife for the witch.
The blacksmith is willing to help. But need some stuff too, to craft the magic knife. He sends the player to collect it. The player brings in the needed items and the blacksmith could start make the knife, but he is too hungry to start it right now. Player has to bring him some food and he starts crafting the knife. But the player has to wait a bit until he is ready with it.
After bring the knife to the witch, he tell the player that she forgot an important item. The player has to get it and bring it to here. After a while the special potion is ready. And the player can bring it to Mrs. Yeti.
Mrs. Yeti is very happy about the special potion. But she needs some other things to make her husband happy. The player has to collect some items for her. After player bring the items to her, she is happy as never befor.
But there is a last thing to do, a monster has to be killed by player. After this favor, the player can go back to Mrs. Yeti and get the reward.
What is needed:
- special potion
- magic knife (not for attacking)
- an idea for reward
Note: First, english is not my native language. Second i need to find a reward for the quest. I spoiled the information what is needed and what NPC is involded to not let players get prepared for the quest to early.
- It would be really good if the reward was the ability to buy (very cheap, like 2-5 money each) fishheads from mrs yeti that you can then feed your cat with!!! The yetis have plenty fish. Kymara
Evil / Good Mom
In a house lives a NPC "Mom". At certain times it is evil and attacks you. At other times it has several tasks for you, that would make her content.
- Cleaning up task: Sokoban like chest pushing in a room
- Shopping task: fetch some food
- Feed her pets: bring some food to her pets
- Messenger: take a message to another NPC (cf news from hackim quest)
- Get facts: go look up something in a reference book (cf look up quote quest)
- Return library book: take a book back to ceryl the librarian
Solving all tasks makes her nice to you at all times and you are rewarded.
Rewards:

- maybe some pocket money
- a daily free meal
- karma
Ideas welcome to add some tasks.
Get Knowledge
A wise wizard wants you to learn. He tells you to go to Wikipedian in ados library and ask about various subjects.
There is a list of subjects, you are told to do one at a time by the wizard. When you ask wikipedian it marks it off as done (I can't think of a good way that you would be able to prove to the wizard thatyou did ask about it, otherwise - unless maybe he asked you a question from the article as well?) and then you return to the wizard to get your next subject. When you've done them all you get a reward.
Globe Trotter
We keep track of everywhere a player has visited using the !visited slot. So an npc could reward real 'globe trotters' maybe simply just counting the number of visited zones, or checking that a player has visited a specific set of zones.

Ouchit: Great, now I can make new arrows. But for the bows I need bowstrings. Please go to #Karl (Karl is a farmer east of semos. He have many pets on his farm). I know he has horses and if you tell him my name he will give you some #hair of a horsetail (they can be used as a bowstring).
Karl: Hello, hello! Ouchit needs more hairs from my horses? No problem, here you are (hairs are in the bag now). Send Ouchit greetings from me.

A Sad Scientist

There's a lonely scientist in kalavan basements. He loves technology, and he doesn't see his wife for a long time. He wants to give her a present. But he needs help and you are the only one you can make him happy.

- NPC: Jewelled legs. I need an emerald, an obsidian, a sapphire, 2 carbuncles, 20 gold bars, one mithril bar and a pair of shadow legs as the base to add the gems to. Can you do that for my wife? Can you bring what I need?

Steps:

Chocolate for Helena
Okay, it's another little quest for new players...
Story:
Help Helena to get some chocolate..
Participants:
- Helena, the little Girl on Ados Market (must be created)
- Carey, Helena's Mother (must be created too)
- Sarah Beth, the seller on athor island (not neccesary)
Steps:
- Carey asks for bringing Chocolate.
- Sarah Beth sells chocolate to you OR you get some by killing disciple assassins.
- Carey asks for the Chocolate you bring.
Reward:
- 500 XP
- Stone Boots or something.

- Player: Hi
- Helena: I can't remember when i felt the good taste of chocolate the last time...
(she says nothing else like Rose Leigh or the strange scientists in the basement.)

Notice:
i thought it's a good idea to kill these disciple assassins cause "it's a dangerous route" and they captured the chocolate transport.
I know you can buy chocolate in Ados maybe you can take a chocolate shake or something. But i haven't a story for chocolate shakes yet ;)

Wizards Circle

I need for the quest:
- a place for a wizard tower, i favour the tower at 0_semos_mountain_n_w2 (because a special-effect that let players look to plains arround, including a part of semos(if the view is possible), when reached the spire)

Quest Idea:
7 Wizards and 7 Artifacts
The Wizards-circle reside in the spire of the wizard-tower. Each wizard give a quest to the player to create his part of the item-set. The quests are in a fixed order, begins with the weakest item/easiest quest. The sequence: hat, legs, boots, chainmail, cloak, sphere, wand
Notice:
The very special items are the last both, the sphere and the wand. A wizards wand is a powerfull weapon and it has to be a range-weapon since stendhal got no spells. The easiest way were that the wand can shoot itself, without ammunition(no magical wand shoots with arrows). But it were to strong and no fun. So i planed that the wizards sphere is a container for magical energy, that feeds the wand with energy. The sphere has to be filled by a quest and carries energy for 50 shoots, and its necessary to do the quest again to get more energy. I already have two different images for the sphere, empty and filled. The quest for the sphere gives the player and empty sphere first and it will switch between the two images, if the sphere is empty or filled.
I dont know how much works its to code that. I will do the quests, NPCs, maps etc, but im not a coder. But i guess we will find a way to make all happy :)

I will create some interiors as new areas, when the map doesnt allow my plan for new item-relevant map properties. For example a magical rift in the deep to take material magical energy. The item-stats are of course not fixed, i will plan with Kymara and Kiheru, and who else is general developer, the correct stats for the best balancing.
